The traditional company was founded in 1967 by Franz and Waltraud Morath. Today, it is managed in the second generation by their son Daniel Morath.

Morath is a leading provider in all hard-to-reach areas of drilling and anchor technology. Morath stands for the pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit for which the Black Forest is famous. This is the birthplace of great inventions. Created with dedication and passion, perseverance and precision. Our employees reflect this, too. They are committed to these values. With our worldwide network, we also maintain an international approach.

Milestones of our skills and growth:

1967 Foundation of the company and start with the sale and repair of compressors and pneumatic tools.
1973 Equipping of crawlers, front-end loaders and excavators with Böhler carriages and accessories.
1978 Construction, installation and commissioning of a large drilling unit for South Yemen.
1979 First probe or geothermal drilling for ground source heat pumps.
1984 Construction and occupation of the new Am Riedbach site with around 1800 sqm.
1985 First production of Morath carriages and rotary motors in lightweight aluminium, development of the first hydraulic power units.
1992 Development and production of the first Morath drilling crawlers.
1996 Development and production of the first hydraulic hammer drill for anchor technology
1999 Introduction of 3D based design.
2000 Construction of a new warehouse with more than 600 square metres and integrated spray booth
2005 Construction of new assembly plant - metalworking shop - including large geothermal warehouse with approx.1800 sqm.
Commissioning of the new heat pump heating system to supply the entire Morath facility with a thermal output of 220kW.
2007 Expansion of the drilling crawler product range to include the 8000 series.
2008 Change of name and legal status of the sole proprietorship, "Franz Morath" to "Morath GmbH" / continuation of the family business in the second generation.
2009 Extension and expansion of the machining workshop / purchase of the latest CNC machines including 5-axis machining centre.

2012 Expansion of the product range for drilling excavators to include the BB 7000; delivery of numerous pieces of equipment for high-altitude use in the construction of the Olympic sports facilities in Sochi.
2013 Expansion of the product range for drilling crawlers through addition of the BR 3000 and the frequency-controlled electric-hydraulic power pack HA1800E
2014 Ground-breaking ceremony for construction of the company premises spanning an area of approx. 11,500 sqm.
2015 Expansion of the product range for power packs to include the electric-hydraulic power pack HA900E.
2016 Occupation of the new production and administration building on Letzestraße; market launch of the ecoDRILL product series and the hydraulic hammer drill HB200/GD200.
2017 50-year company anniversary and official dedication of the new site.
2018 Extension of the product range Hydraulic power units by the HA1610.
2019 Reconstruction and renovation of the machining department; extension of the product range-Injection Technology by the automatic injection station AIS500.
2020 Extension of the product range by the drilling excavator BB5010 as universal equipment: drilling, spraying, lever system handling.
2021 Extension of the product range by the drilling excavator BB9000
2022 Official start of the training workshop and the new metalworking shop; expansion of the product range by the BR8010 drilling crawler, the BK726 drilling crane and the HA3010 hydraulic power pack; "Top Innovator 2022 Award"; move into the new service branch in Grabenstätt (Bavaria)
