Technology

Geothermal or ground source heat pumps (GSHP heating) are bundles of pipes placed in the ground using a special drilling method. As a result, geothermal heat can be obtained from deeper levels and used for heating (heat pump heating), but also for cooling.

The cavity remaining in the borehole is filled with a material with good heat conductivity. At the same time, by means of this the borehole is closed off again completely.

The borehole depth, typically 100 to 250 metres, and the number of boreholes necessary are dependent on the required energy and the geological conditions.
